Why I Chose Health and Wellness

Today I am writing my first real post. I have a couple posted on my page, but they were mainly where I was just playing around. It is a bit intimidating to be honest. I mean you are putting your thoughts and ideas out there for the entire world to see. But, at the same time you want to share stories and ideas that may inspire others.

So, why did I chose health and wellness and why am I spending time writing about it? In 2016 I was diagnosed with Type II diabeties and had elevated blood pressure and cholesterol levels. The doctor told me I was going to be on medication for the diabetes and if I didn’t do something about it, I would be on medication for the blood pressure and cholesterol soon. Then in a matter of about 2 minutes they came back in the room with a blood sugar monitor and a prescription. They showed me how to check my sugar levels and sent me on my way. That’s it. There was no real discussion about how to combat these things besides maybe a comment about diet and exercise. All I knew was I hate to take medicine and I sure didn’t want to be sticking my finger for the rest of my life! So after a couple of weeks of going through the routine and thinking to myself, I ain’t going to do this, I started researching. I quickly realized that it was possible to stop taking the meds and pricking my finger each day if I changed my Lifestyle. So, I started my Journey to a better life where I have lost over 80lbs and discovered things about myself that I never would have known if I hadn’t taken that new path.

The bottom line is that I found out that there is an entire other life out there that I didn’t know about because I was focused on the wrong things. I was focused on how “good” the food I ate tasted and how it gave me an immediate rush vs. how good the food made me feel long term. I was caught in a vicious cycle of feeling so tired and bad that I didn’t want to do anything active which made me want to do even less activities. No I feel better, I am more focused and I am happier! And I feel so passionate about helping others discover themselves and a new life that awaits them!
